IDOL scoring for 4/24

THE FINAL SIX

It’s a very special IDOL tonight. It’s special because it’s also a fund raiser for “IDOL GIVES BACK”, a fund for villages in Africa.

Who knew Simon had a heart? Let alone enough of one to squirt some tears.

CHRIS RICHARDSON -- “Change The World”

Chris sounds a little warbly and looks as if he has the wrong size jacket on…Randy tells him he’s “in it to win it” (because so many of the contestants are in it to what? Lose? Idiot)…Paula is proud of his journey…Simon says the competition starts now…It’s clear the judges have been told to move it along…

SCORE: 8

MELINDA DOOLITTLE – “There will come a day”

Looking better every week, Melinda over emotes her way through this Faith Hill schlock, er, song…Who knew drab grey was her best color?...Randy says check it out, you’re dope and the rock…Paula says there’s no one like you, you’re magical…Simon says you made it your own…

SCORE: 8

BLAKE LEWIS – “Imagine”

Blake, with no guest artist to brown nose, brown noses the viewers by saying he’s glad to sing a song about people coming together. Blake, we’re so glad you didn’t choose a divisive song on inspiration night…DUH!...And is that sound I hear john Lennon rolling in his grave after hearing is song done by a kid with his suit collar turned up…

Randy “keeps it real” by saying it sucked, Paula enjoyed it, and Simon says it’s tricky but felt sincere…

SCORE: 5

LAKISHA – some song by Fantasia

Kiki sounds a little off tonight, although she’s resplendent in her black evening gown…She recovers near the end to save the song with her huge voice…

Randy caught some pitch problems, and it sounds like her family may kill him, Paula says blah blah blah don’t take on the songs of a blah blah blah past idol winner, Simon tells Paula what she meant with her stammering, but can’t get his own thoughts in because the crowd won’t let him…

SCORE: -2

I’ll use this time to tell you that you can get your Sanjaya hair here.

It’s tragic that we’ll never see him in corn rows…

PHIL STACEY – “The Change”

With the black tux look a-rockin’, Phil looks even more like Nosferatu, the vampire…

Randy says good job, Paula mumbles some thing about we love you, Simon says can you monopolize the redneck vote by singing more like a hick…

SCORE: 8

Quick – name all the celebrities you can remember from the “One” commercial…

Okay we get it, Simon is trying to do good…And he uses the same clichés in real life that he uses on the show…Someone use some of the charity funds to buy Randy and Simon a thesaurus…

JORDIN “STURDY GIRL” SPARKS – “You’ll Never Walk Alone”

Oops, a couple of early clunky notes have slipped up my little favorite…The fans in Liverpool will be disappointed that she turned their drinking song into a “song of hope”…Randy says it was the best EVER (?) While I liked it, he’s on drugs…Who cares what Paula says…Simon says she should record it as a single…

SCORE: 13

The "One?" John Stamos and Taye Diggs. These are b-list at best, but at least they chose pretty b-listers. Actually, I never did understand the commercial, or what it's for--so I hope I'm answering the actual quiz question.

Nosferatu! Classic.
