IDOL scoring for 4/17

PHIL STACEY – ‘WHERE THE BLACKTOP ENDS’

Simon and Paula appear to be goofing off during the song, so how do they know how good he was? They’re like middle schoolers, only worse…Phil may have saved himself because he was on the hot seat…

SCORE: 13

JORDIN SPARKS – ‘BROKEN WING’

I thought Broken Wing was that Mister Mister song, this wasn’t that at all…Jordin lives another week…

SCORE: 10

SANJAYA – ‘SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT’

This is how I envision a gang member in Des Moines would dress…If Sanjaya doesn’t win this week, maybe the Crips will get him, seein’ how he was sportin’ the bloods colors…

SCORE: 0

LAKISHA – ‘JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL’

Did the judges watch a different performance? I thought she was pretty good…Never get on the panel’s bad side…

SCORE: 3

CHRIS RICHARDSON – ‘MAYBERRY’

It’s the second country song tonight about the road being made out of dirt…While that may be romantic to you in rural environments, I think of the guys in DELIVERENCE sizing me up…

SCORE: 0

MELINDA DOOLITTLE – ‘TROUBLE IS A WOMAN WITH A MAN ON HER MIND’

She kind of looks like Princess Fiona from Shrek…When she’s an ogre…OUCH!...I’m sorry, I really like Melinda...If it ended tonight, it would Melinda v. Jordin, but then again if the Ravens game with the Colts had never started, never mind…

SCORE: 11

BLAKE LEWIS – ‘WHEN THE STARS TURN BLUE’

Tim McGraw gets the credit for a Ryan Adams song made popular by the Corrs…Go figure…At least the road doesn’t end where some creepy guy’s playing the banjo…What’s with the swaeter vest? Meh.

SCORE: 5

I'm guessing Simon Cowell will really regret having the camera catch him roll his eyes after Chris Richardson offered his prayers and support to the Virginia Tech community ...
... so thank goodness someone in the booth forced that awkward nod to Blacksburg by Cowell at the show's end.

Chris Richardson is gone tomorrow...
